04/16/2022 – Fifth Sorowful mystery
Bridging the Fifth Sorrowful Mystery, the Crucifixion and the First Glorious Mystery, the Resurrection is Holy Saturday. The first Holy Saturday was a long and empty day of grief for those who loved Jesus. But on that day in that grief, Jesus’ Mother alone awaited the Resurrection.
Although Jesus had openly spoken of His death and resurrection, she alone was grieving yet trusting, because she had always gathered all her Son’s words, keeping and pondering them in her Immaculate Heart.
St Vincent Ferrer said that it is because of the Blessed Virgin’s, lone witness on the first Holy Saturday that all Saturdays are dedicated to her.
Our Heavenly Mother wants us to imitate her in the rosary, keeping and pondering her Son’s words in each mystery as we pray. If we do this we too will never lose the hope of resurrection.
