04/21/2022 – Spanish Crosses And Religious Symbols

Spanish authorities have been removing crosses and other Catholic symbols. They excuse the sacrilege on the basis that they have a political association connected to the Spanish Civil War and that it is necessary to purge this period of Spanish history.

However this destruction of religious symbols would seem to be part of a more general effort of the Spanish ruling party to purge Catholicism from the hearts of Spanish people.

It is possible that the purge is having the opposite effect in some hearts. At the end of February this year, thousands of the faithful, mostly young people, attended Mass in the Church of St Michael and then peacefully processed through the streets of Madrid, with the pilgrim Virgin statue praying the rosary for the sanctification of youth.
