06/03/2022 – Sister Clare Crockett
The story is told in the biography of Sister Clare Crockett, of a little loving grace, that Sr. Clare received during the rosary.
“Soon the Rosary Club no longer fit in the sister’s chapel and the children began to pray outside. Going to Rosary Club was definitely the “cool thing” to do, and not just for first and second graders but for all ages. Many recalled that they began to go to Rosary Club in middle school. Some of the children who attended were not even Catholic!
When the Rosary Club was held outside, the sisters would take a statue of Our Lady with them so that the children could look at Our Lady as they prayed the Rosary. The statue, however, did not reflect Mary’s beauty so to speak. Sr Clare actually found it quite ugly.
One day Sr Clare found herself distracted as she saw once again how ugly it was. In that moment, a little girl came running up to her and said, “Sr. Clare, Sr. Clare! The statue of Our Lady looks just like you.” Instead of the complacent smile she expected, She saw Sr. Clare break out in laughter. Sr. Clare loved to tell her Sisters this story whenever she wanted to make them laugh. Our Lord made sure to send her these playful reminders to cleanse any remnant of vanity from her soul.”
