06/05/2022 – Pentecost Birthday of the Church

Today is the great feast of Pentecost, the Descent of the Holy Spirit, the Birthday of the Church!

We celebrate this great and mysterious Gift in the Third Glorious Mystery of the Rosary.

For the last nine days the apostles have been in a prayer retreat under the guidance and loving care of the Blessed Virgin. She who nurtured the unborn Jesus for nine months in her womb, now nurtures the embryonic mystical body of her Son Jesus in the apostles gathered around her. She prepares them for the coming of the Holy Spirit who will breath Divine life into the Church and send its forth on mission. This is why we truly call Pentecost the Birthday of the Church.

Today when you pray this decade of the rosary, ask for the out pouring of the Holy Spirit in your souls as well. Ask Him to sanctify you with His Gifts and send you forth on mission too.
