12/24/2021 – Feast of Adam and Eve and the Holy Ancestors of Christ

Today is the feast of Adam and Eve and the Holy Ancestors of Christ.
Although they lived long before the events represented by the 20 mysteries of the rosary they are present in them in many ways.
In the Annunciation, the promise of the woman and her seed is fulfilled from Genesis 3.
At the vigil of Easter, we sing “O happy fault, O necessary sin of Adam, which gained for us so great a Redeemer!”
At the Visitation, Mary proclaims: “He has come to the help of his servant Israel for he has remembered his promise of mercy, the promise he made to our fathers,to Abraham and his children forever.”
In the Third Luminious Mystery Jesus announces the Kingdom, the perpetual Kingdom promised to His ancestor David. In the Fourth Luminous Mystery Elijah and Moses appear.
Between the Crucifixion and Resurrection, Jesus descends to the dead, His Holy ancestors and all who were saved in anticipation of the Redeemer. They enter heaven at Jesus’ Ascension and are there to welcome their Queen at the Assumption and praise Mary in her Coronation.
And as we celebrate tonight Jesus is born to undo the damage of the sin of Adam and Eve. A saviour has been given to us. Alleluia.
