04/13/2022 – Spy Wednesday

For Jesus, “Spy Wednesday” was a day spent in prayer. For His Apostles, who had followed Jesus to the Temple for the last four days, experiencing the excitement of Palm Sunday and then the tension of the Pharisees’ and Sadducees’ traps, it must have been a welcome day of rest. That is for all but one of the Apostles. Judas went back to the Temple, not to pray, but to betray. The deal was struck and everything was made ready.

With the rosary we also prepare for Jesus’ Passion. Through the Sorrowful Mysteries beginning with the Agony in the Garden, Our Blessed Mother takes us through Jesus’ suffering (our redemption) step by step through the Scourging, the Crowning with thorns, along the Via Dolorosa to Calvary. With our rosary beads she can bring us with her to the very foot of the Cross.
