06/13/2022 – St. Anthony of Padu

The second apparition of Our Lady at Fatima occurred on June 13th, St Anthony’s Day. St Anthony came from Portugal and the feast was a cause of great celebration.

The parents of the three children, who did not believe they had seen the Blessed Mother, tried to convince them to come to the “feasta” of St Anthony rather than to the Cova da Iria as Our Lady had requested. The children chose the Cova.

When Our Lady appeared to Lucia she greeted her with “Please tell me, Madam, what it is that you want of me?” Mary replied“…..I want you to continue saying the Rosary every day. And after each one of the mysteries, my children, I want you to pray in this way: O my Jesus, forgive us our sins , save us from the fire of hell. Take all souls to heaven, especially those who are most in need….”

It must have pleased St Anthony that the children chose Mary before him because it would seem from widespread experience that he has retained a special interest in the rosary. Think about it……We who say the daily rosary have all at some time lost our beads. Who do we turn to? St Anthony! Who finds them! St Anthony!
