06/16/2022 – Traditional Feast of Corpus Christi

Today is the traditional feast of Corpus Christi (The Body of Christ). In Ireland and many other countries the feast is transferred to Sunday.

As a great aid to the Church, Pope John Paul II gave us the Luminous Mysteries of the Rosary. The fifth Luminous mystery is the Institution of the Most Holy Eucharist .

In this decade, we meditate on the Divine mystery of the Real Presence of Jesus……Body, Blood, Soul and Divinity in Holy Communion. This total Self giving of Jesus to us took place at the Last Supper which was the First Mass. It was completed on the Cross on Good Friday when Jesus said, “It is finished” and died.

It is astonishing that we, mere creatures, can receive God into our bodies. How humble and loving is Our God to make Himself so small and to want to make Himself small so that he can come right into us.
