09/06/2021 – St. Paul

Dia dhuit,

There is a great contrast in our readings today. In our Gospel we have people who are doing everything they can to try and catch Jesus out. They are looking for something to use against Him. Knowing their thoughts, Jesus proceeds to heal a man and they are furious. Instead of praising God for His mercy, and being happy for the poor man who was cured, their hearts are closed and they are only concerned about themselves. In our First Reading St Paul shows us what it is to be selfless, to love – to be concerned not for oneself but the other. He says:”It makes me happy to suffer for you, as I am suffering now, and in my own body to do what I can to make up all that has still to be undergone by Christ for the sake of his body, the Church.”Let’s be generous today dear friends, and think of the other. Let’s try and offer to God all our annoyances, frustrations, hurts and sufferings of this day.St Paul, pray for us!

God bless you,
Fr Marius
